Microscope vs. Christ: Day 3 in Paris

The start of day for me, even though we had a very late night, was an early rise for a run. Sure, I know that I am holidays but I it was on my must do list. Unaware of the weather (i did not draw the blinds because all were asleep) I started my run in 16 degrees and drizzle. Accompanied by fellow joggers, who would not be allured by running along the banks of the seine? a quick 4km to the Eiffel Tower and back via a patisserie and I was ready to start another day.

First on the list was a visit to the City of Science (Cité des Sciences et de l’Industrie) a large complex of buildings hosting a range of subjects. The main attraction for us was a tour through the French submarine Argonaute. To see the cramped and claustrophobic environments in this pocket submarine that these sailors had to endure was an experience in itself.

Travelling across the city we encountered some transport detours which placed us on the a bus packed like sardines. Two minutes more and I would have had to deal with two unconscious people. Fortunately the bus terminated and we were again free to absorbe fresh parisian air… Saint Chapelle. Next was a short visit to the impossibly alluring stained glass perfection of the Saint Chapelle upper cathedral.

Last stop for the day was Notre Dame. Celebrating its 850th year we attended during a mass which was an experience in itself. We did a lap of the world renowned cathedral taking in the sub-chapels and dedications to various cardinals and important religious persons, seen one statue to one dead person…. seen them all 😉

A quick menu dinner in Latin quater and we were home again for an early night and to recharge for another full day tomorrow… we are keeping to the schedule quite nicely!

Below are some happy snaps for the day…
